Make sure you watch the video above for tips on getting started. 🎵
Step 1: Songs have a theme, a story that you want to convey in the verse. It could be an experience, event, emotion or a memory.
-start by brainstorming details of images that set the scent for the song.
-Let your creativity run. Don't try to write the verse in one shot. free write ideas, then determine what you will keep
Step 2: Write what comes natural. You want to be true to you. 😊Let your thoughts flow and then you can use the lines that start to add color or expression to your verse. Use sensory words (sight, sound smells) to paint a picture or relate an emotion.
Step 3: Start to organize and structure your verse: Go back over what you brainstormed and organize lines into a consistent pattern.Try to give your verse some musicality (even without chords) by adding a basic Rhyme scheme like.
-ABAB. every other line rhymes
-AABB the first and second line rhymes then the third and fourth etc

O'Neil
Singer/Songwriter
Randie O'Neil's storytelling comes from a sincere place. Her work as an adolescent intervention specialist brings a real-world perspective to her lyrics.
Drawing on her own life story of having to survive an abusive alcoholic environment as a child, she helps students navigate a complicated world.
Through her songs, she conveys a message of understanding and courage to face problems that almost all of us experience at some point in our lives. Smooth, endearing, with a little sass, award winning Americana/Folk-Pop artist Randie O'Neil puts her whole self into her writing and performances, using honest and witty lyrics about heartache and strength, paired with catchy melodies. With her roots-inspired sound, she has independently released multiple albums over the years.
She will be following up from the widely acclaimed EP “I’m Not That Girl” and “Here I Stand” with her much anticipated “Full Moon Rising”. She is sure to keep you tapping along and singing to the moon.
